Baines Lodge
About the project
What do we say about this camp? It was old build from empty drinking cans and plaster with chicken mesh. But Bains always had a presence, it belonged in the Delta.
When we heard that we were to build this, we were extremely honoured, the instruction was clear we had to use some of the old wood, the look needed to be totally different, and the view needs to be spectacular.
The build did not come without its issues, ceilings from KZN in South Africa, the designers did not want to see screws on the inside of the walls, and blinds needed to be tucked away.
A masterpiece was created. It opened when it had to, and a joy to be part of. The “New Bains” something beautiful.
